"Your education belongs to YOU!  No one can take it from you, it will always be yours and it can take you anywhere that you want to go."                                                                                                       ~Clara Foster (my grandmother)

(Mrs. Baity)

My name is Tonya Baity.  This will be my seventh year teaching at Tyro Elementary School.  I have experience teaching 2nd, 3rd and 5th grades.  This is my fifth year in 4th grade.  I love being a part of the Tyro Elementary family.  I have lived in Davidson County my entire life.  I attended Reeds Elementary, Tyro Middle and West Davidson High so, being at Tyro Elementary is like being at home.
I began my college experience at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a pre-nursing student.  After the completion of one year at UNCC, I attended Miller Motte Technical School and received certification in Medical Office Assisting.

After working as a Medical Assistant for two years I decided to return to college as an evening student while working full time.  I enrolled at Davidson County Community College as a transfer student.  I completed my transfer requirements and began my studies at Catawba College in Salisbury.  I graduated  with my Elementary Education Degree with a certification in Kindergarten through 6th grade in 1997.  Later in my career I returned to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and received my Masters in School Administration in 2007.  In addition, I received licensure in Special Education in 2012.

This will be my 18th year in education. I had the privilege to serve Davidson County Schools as their Teacher of the Year in 2015-2016.  I have had the opportunity to serve students and parents as a classroom teacher, Assistant Principal and a Lead Teacher.  Working closely with students as they learn core fundamentals is my passion.
