My name is Casey Carter and this is my second year at Tyro Elementary School as the School Counselor. I received my Master's in School Counseling from Salem College. I love serving the students and families in Tyro and look forward to working with all of you again this year.
* During this time of digital learning, and as we move forward to the modified AABB day format, I would like you to know that I am available Mon- Fri from 7:30am-3:00pm. You may call the school or contact me through email email@example.com, or through Class Dojo.
My philosophy on School Counseling is that it should be preventative in nature and reactive when necessary. I will take a preventative approach through classroom guidance lesson, small group counseling and individual counseling.
I will be entering each classroom this year and teaching lessons based on the needs of each grade level. These lessons are focused around the North Carolina Essential Guidance Standards and the ASCA Mindsets and Behaviors. Through classroom guidance every student at Tyro Elementary will receive information on social/emotional behavior, academic skills, and career exploration.
Small Group Counseling
Small groups is a wonderful way to provide an extra skill set to those students in need. Small groups are run throughout the year focusing on student success.
School Counselors are to provide brief counseling to students in need. If a student requires additional counseling I will provide resources for services in the community.
*During School Closure & Remote Days I am available for Counseling.*
