Summer Reading Program!
Tyro Elementary School
Summer Reading Program
Summer is quickly approaching and we hope you will have time to relax and participate in fun family activities. We encourage you to set time aside during the summer break for your child to read! Reading during the summer months helps to prevent a decline in your child’s reading level.
This is how the program works…...After your child reads a book, have him/her document the date, title, author, and what was the most interesting part to them on the reading log. For each book and log entry your child completes over the summer, he/she will be entered into a drawing to win a prize. For example: if your child reads 10 books and completes 10 log entries, he/she will be entered into the prize drawing 10 times. A link to a copy of the log is in the right hand column of this page. Pease note….a parent must sign and the student needs to return the original letter to the library no earlier than the first day of the 2018-2019 school year in order to be entered into the drawing! Prizes will be rewarded when school resumes in August.
Your child can choose to read either printed books or eBooks. The following websites, worldbookonline.com and nc kids digital library are two excellent resources. Please see the original letter for student login information for those two websites (sent home at the end of the 2017-2018 school year). Also, if you would like to record your student’s log electronically, you can scan the QR code, also from the original letter, for a link to the form you need.
Thanks for your help! Happy Reading!
